One of my favorite lines from Good to Great comes from chapter 8, “Tremendous power exists in the fact of continued improvement and the delivery of results.” Although Collins was discussing features of a successful company, it can easily be applied to good personal leadership characteristics. This phrase really hit home with me and my personal values.
Delivering results will always make you stand out among peers. It will add confidence and credibility to your work. People will learn they can depend on you. They will want you on their team. This will act as the initial momentum of your own personal flywheel. Moving forward you must always be improving yourself. Evaluating your own performance, having others give feedback, setting goals, personal development and taking classes are all ways you can continue to improve yourself and accelerate of your personal flywheel.
